I created the artwork in this series by cutting and piecing together parts of woodcuts that I made many years ago while I was in graduate school. Looking at the work again after all these years, I concluded that the prints didn't work well as they were. They did however, have interesting textures and design elements, so, I decided to reconfigure them into a series of collages.
The original prints were made from wood blocks with wax-filled areas that were scraped and gouged. I printed black ink first and then white as the second and or third colors. The collages were made using parts of the prints layered onto mat board and other materials to give them depth.
